The new day is going to have to wait, because you may have an emergency on your hands with your water heater.

Let’s take a look at what you can do about that loss of hot water. It might be a simple problem—or you may need to call our water heater repair experts.

Check on the water heater to look at the aquastat (i.e. the water heater’s thermostat). An incorrect setting may cause the limit switch to trip, shutting off the water heater. Re-set the thermostat, but don’t raise it higher than 140°F or it might create a scalding hazard.

If you have a gas-powered water heater that ignites the burners with a pilot light, check to see if the pilot light is still lit. If it’s extinguished, try to relight it. If the water heater is newer and uses an electronic ignition system, the problem may be with a failed igniter. You’ll need professionals to replace it.

The gas supply line has a valve on it that can be used to cut off the gas. Make sure this is turned so the gas is allowed to flow. Please don’t attempt to do anything else with the gas line, which can turn into a major safety hazard.

If you have an electric-powered water heater, open up the electrical panel for the house to see if a circuit breaker has been tripped. This is one of the more common reasons for an electric water heater to fail. If the breaker trips a second time, you probably have an electrical problem in the water heater itself.

Call for a 24-hour water heater repair professional. You’ve exhausted the simple-fix option, and it’s time to let the experts take over.

If you need water heater repair in Cleves, OH, we are here 24/7 for emergency service.

Ken Neyer Plumbing, Inc.—Serving Greater Cincinnati and the surrounding Tri State area since 1972.

[86
111,106,96
